The final countdown is officially on as we will be meeting our twins in 8 weeks or less! I can’t believe it! I’m equal parts wishing that the next 8 weeks fly by because I just cannot wait to meet them and also hoping for time to slow down so that we can prepare and soak in this final bit of time just the 3 of us. We’ve made some great progress on getting the essential things prepped for the babies to come home and I’ve got a working list of things I’d still like to buy for them. The good news is that newborns don’t require a whole lot! And Amazon offers really fast shipping, haha.
Since we had hoped and planned to have more kids after Liam, we saved quite a few things from when he was a baby. Overall, I think we did a pretty good job of picking out products that we really enjoyed and worked well for us with him, so those are on the list to reuse this time around.
Here are the things we’re planning to use with the twins, which we also used when Liam was a baby:
- Cloud Island Sleep n Play Onesies – I loved these zippered footies when Liam was a baby! They’re soft, have a 2-way zipper (which is essential), and wash well. I already have a few for the babies ready to be worn!
- Baby Bjorn Bouncer Bliss – We tried a different type of lounger/chair for Liam when he was a newborn and he was not a fan, so we ended up ordering this bouncer and used it every day! Every baby is different, of course, but we will be reusing the one we used with Liam and potentially buying a second if we find the babies really like it.
- Nanit Baby Monitor – This is my top recommendation for a baby monitor, especially if you’re an analytical person and like having records of how your babies sleep at night. I loved being able to log into the app to see how many times he woke up, how long it took him to fall asleep, etc. Mike and I both liked that the monitor was accessible via our phones, so that we didn’t have to carry a parent unit through the house as he was napping or in bed at night – we would just get notifications sent to our phones, which we always have on us. We will be buying another monitor so that each baby can have one above their crib.
- Hatch Sound Machine – The best sound machine ever! It’s controlled by an app, so you can easily adjust the sound/light from outside of the baby’s room. It also has buttons on it, so it can be adjusted on the machine itself. I like that it will grow with baby with the “ok to wake” feature – we’ve been using that with Liam for the last 6 months or so and it has been really helpful!
- Baby Bjorn Carrier Mini – This was our favorite baby carrier of the ones we tried. It’s very easy to put on, comfortable to wear, and isn’t too bulky. We have already ordered a second one for the times that Mike and I both plan to wear a baby or if we just want/need to wear one at a time.
- Muslin Burp Cloths – I tried all different brands of burp cloths with Liam and these reigned supreme! They’re absorbent, a great size, and wash well. I’m stocking up on them for the babies.
- Fisher Price Kick n Play Piano – The best $35 you will spend for your newborn. It’s my go-to gift for baby showers because it is a necessity, in my opinion. Yes the songs will drive you crazy, but the time that it buys you by entertaining your newborn is invaluable!
- Kyte Baby Sleep Sacks – Our favorite sleep sacks! I saved all of Liam’s, so we will be utilizing them once the babies outgrow their swaddles.
- Barefoot Dreams Receiving Blanket – Liam is obsessed with his blankets, so I already have a blanket for each baby. They’re so soft and a great size for cuddling up with.
