Are you doing any hosting over the next couple of weeks? We aren’t this year, but I thought I would share a couple of simple tips that I always find helpful. Whether you have a planned gathering or a last minute “pop in” visit, there are a few things you can do to instantly make your guests feel welcomed!
Prior to their arrival, check the lighting in the room(s) and light a candle. Lighting does so much for creating a warm and welcoming space. Turn on a couple lamps, dim the overhead lights, and create a nice ambiance. I always love having a candle burning when people come over. Not only does it make your home smell nice, but I feel like it adds a little bit of an intimate touch that is calming. Make sure to turn on any outside lights, too!
Always have something out to eat. Whether you’ve prepared a full spread, have a store-bought dessert, or just a few pretzels in a bowl, I think it’s a nice touch to have something on the table or counter. If you have a store-bought dessert, transfer it to your own dish ahead of serving it.
Have a bottle of Champagne or sparkling cider on hand. This isn’t a necessity, of course, but I love to always have some drink options for guests. We usually keep some soft drinks in the fridge, a healthy collection of wine, some beer, and a bottle of bubbly. The variety is nice to be able to offer your guests whatever they may prefer!
If you have guests coming to stay the night, I shared a few tips for preparing for overnight guests in this post.
Lauren will you share where you got the potted plants on the wall? I love them!
Planters are from West Elm, plants are from various places, like Ikea, hobby lobby, etc.!
