Happy December 1st! In celebration of the first day of the most festive month of the year, I thought it would be fun to put together a list of things to do in the next 3 weeks to take full advantage of the holiday season. There really is something magical about this time of year, so I like to soak it in as much as possible! Do you have any “must-do” things every December?
1. See A Christmas Light Display
Use Google, your local news sites, or the Next Door Cheer Map to locate the best holiday light displays near you!
2. Bake Something Festive
I always make this homemade fudge recipe at least once during the holiday season! Some other festive recipes can be found here.
3. Get An Ornament To Represent Your Year
I started doing this with Mike years ago and now it’s fun to carry on the tradition with Liam! Some of my favorite places to find ornaments are Target and Anthropologie.
4. Make A Donation To A Charity Or Cause You Care About
It always feels great to do something like this if you’re able to – especially around the holiday season. If you want to donate but aren’t sure where this website is a great resource to find local non profits. If you want to take it a step further, “adopting” a local family to send gifts and necessities to this Christmas is another option!
5. Make A Batch Of Cider
Our families version of this is my Mom’s Warm Wassail Recipe linked here! It’s super easy and a crowd pleaser around the holidays!
6. Set Up A Hot Cocoa Bar
I did this a couple of years ago (you can see it in this post) and thought it was a simple, yet festive thing to do if you’re having company over.
7. Set Out “Thank You” Treats For The Delivery Drivers And Mail Carriers
This time of year is busy for everyone but especially the hard working delivery drivers and mail carriers. I like to set up a bar cart with some snacks and drinks to say “thank you”. You can see some of the things I included last year in this post.
8. Watch A Christmas Movie
Or 10! My go-to is always “It’s A Wonderful Life”.
9. Send Christmas Cards
A great way to update friends and family on your year or simply just wish them a happy holiday season!
10. Take A Family Photo By Your Christmas Tree
I like the idea of having a consistent photo you can take each year to look back on and reflect as your family continues to grow and change!
11. Read The Christmas Story
This book was a classic as I was growing up and I’m excited to continue that tradition with Liam.
Here’s a graphic of the list you can easily save to your phone or print out if you’re interested in checking some of these things off this season!
