When we moved into our house a year and a half ago, we basically recreated our bedroom exactly how we had it in our old house. There were plenty of other rooms to furnish and design here, so I wanted to keep it very simple and use everything we already had. It has served us well and been perfectly fine, but I always knew I wanted to design the room to fit this house and this space better, eventually! I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do in here for furniture, so I sat with it for a long time before making a decision. I feel like I’ve finally narrowed down my vision and am ready to make some moves to turn it into a space that we really love.
One of the biggest reasons I feel the need to change is because our current room is significantly bigger than our previous. A lot of the furniture and pieces we moved in here just feel too small for the space, so it’s time to get some things that fit better. I have quite a few ideas and items on my wishlist to add here, but the first big change I made was swapping our old nightstands for new ones. Mike and I keep most of our clothes in our shared closet, so we don’t need a ton of dresser space in the bedroom. I got the idea to use a nursery dresser as nightstands on Tik Tok, of all places! I searched on Amazon for some and fell in love with these. I love how modern and beautiful they are. They’re the perfect size to fit nightstand essentials, along with underwear, socks, pajamas, and other clothing items we store in our dresser.
Not only are they beautiful, but the size of them is a much better scale for the room. I like the extra counter space on top, too! If you have a larger room or aren’t finding something you love in the “nightstand” category, try looking at nursery/children’s dressers. You may be able to find something you love! Here are a few other options I considered:
