I’m a total convert to a new nail polish brand (sorry, Essie!) and I need to tell you about it. Sometime last spring, I received a PR package from Londontown with a couple of their Lakur nail polishes. I was skeptical, to say the least. After a couple years of trying different brands of polish, I had finally resolved that the only one that would stay on my nails for more than a day without chipping was the Essie Gel Couture line. I decided to try the Lakur polish – the worst thing that would happen is a chipped manicure – just to see if it was as good as the reviews I was reading. Spoiler alert: it’s better. This is the only polish I’ve used since that fateful day and I don’t plan to change that!
When I do my own nails, I make sure to shape them with a nail file and then buff them to prep them for polish. I use the base coat, 2 coats of color, and then the top coat. They’re not gel polishes, so no UV light is necessary. You just apply them like regular old nail polish. I’ve found that I can get at least 5 days of wear out of them, sometimes up to 7. For regular nail polish, that is a long time! I wait a couple minutes between each step, making sure that the product is dry to the touch and no longer tacky. The key with a smooth and professional looking manicure is thin coats of polish. You don’t want to plop on a bunch of product on your nail and hope that it will dry smooth. Instead, have just a little polish on the applicator wand and brush from cuticle to end. If you need to do 3 coats to get the opaque finish you want, do that!
Since I discovered how long this polish would last on me, I’ve added quite a few colors to my collection! Here are the colors I have, from top to bottom and left to right: Earl Grey, Mint No Chip, Honeymoon, Rosewater, Weekend Cheers, Brit of Love, Love Bite #9, Afternoon Tea, Chelsea Porcelain.
