Beauty Products I’m Enjoying for Summer

Let’s talk summer beauty. With the changing of the seasons comes changes to my makeup and beauty routine. It’s not a complete overhaul, but I will usually make a few swaps here and there to accommodate the changing climate and what my makeup needs may be. Living in Raleigh means that the summers are long and hot, with plenty of humidity. I usually like to simplify my makeup routine during the summer, minimizing my eye makeup and making sure that I have face products that will stand the test of southern humidity. I also don’t wear a lot of lipstick – I’ll go for a tinted balm or something simple – and ramp up my skincare to allow for plenty of makeup-free days. I always feel more confident on makeup-free days when my skin is looking good, so caring for it well is essential.

First up is this cream bronzer and I am obsessed with it. I was skeptical when I read, “cream” in the name, but it is fantastic. I apply it with this brush to the hollows of my cheeks and along my hairline (for a little sun kissed glow), making sure to blend it in well. It blends like a dream and looks so natural. I also love that it’s one less powder that I’m putting on my skin – I find it to feel more lightweight than a traditional bronzing product. I have it in the shade Seychelles.

To me, the biggest (and most pleasant) surprise is how much I love the Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation SPF 15. It’s a great medium-coverage foundation that isn’t too heavy, but still provides some evening and brightening of my skin. It’s a serum-based foundation, so it doesn’t look or feel dry on my skin. I’ve put it to the test of 90 degree summer days and it still looks pretty darn good by time I go to wash my face at night. I’ll be wearing this foundation all summer long!

I’m usually a lipstick or tinted lip balm girl, but I was intrigued by the H2O gloss after reading the reviews. I’m wearing it here in the shade Coastline. I love that it adds just a little bit of color and shine without making me feel like I’m harkening back to my middle school days. (Anybody else ruin yourself from using lip gloss later in life because of how often you wore it as a tween?!). It wears well and keeps my lips feeling hydrated for hours. I’ll wrap this up with a few more honorable mentions. I’ve been using the Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer every other night and can tell that my skin feels more moisturized and supple the next morning after using it. It’s gel-based, so it’s cooling when I apply it and soaks into the skin. I’ve also been applying the Wink of H2O Vegan Collagen Eye Cream every night. Admittedly, I’ve slacked in the eye cream department, so I’m happy to have a new one to use.
