One of the few makeup products I would not be willing to give up is a really good concealer. I could ditch eyeliner or a highlighting powder, but concealer is here to stay! Having and using a great concealer can do wonders for making you look alert and well-rested, as well as helping to blend your makeup look and create a more flawless finish to your skin.
In this season of late pregnancy and early motherhood, I’ve become quite good at faking the look of a good night’s sleep with a brightening concealer. Tarte’s newest concealer, the Hydrocealer concealer, is a great option to help create bright and awake undereyes, even if you’re running low on sleep. I want my concealer to do three things: brighten, cover, and look natural. I’ve been pleasantly surprised to find that the Hydrocealer does all three for me!
For my application process when I’m doing a full makeup routine, I always apply my foundation first. Once foundation is blended in, I’ll go in with my concealer to brighten up under my eyes, as well as cover any blemishes or even out any redness left on my skin. For under my eyes, I like to apply the product in a triangle shape and then gently blend it in with a damp sponge. Using a damp sponge helps to spread the concealer evenly and gently, as well as helping it to blend right into the rest of my makeup. That way, I don’t get any harsh concealer-to-foundation lines or patches of product that are just sitting on top of my skin and not blended well.
You can see in this “after” shot how beautifully the concealer blends in when applied this way. The darkness under my eyes is gone, but it’s not so heavy that all of my freckles are covered.
The Hydrocealer comes in 30 different shades, so you can find one that will work best for your skin tone and complexion! I’m wearing 14N Fair-Light Neutral. It’s vegan, cruelty-free, gluten-free, and considered a “clean” beauty product.
If you’re in the market to try a new concealer, I recommend giving this one a shot! Especially as we’re moving into warmer weather, which is when I usually wear lighter and less makeup, I’m happy to have a concealing product in my makeup bag that does what I need it to without being too heavy!
Thanks to Tarte Cosmetics for sponsoring this post. All opinions are my own.
If you’re new to this line, as I am, what suggestions do you have for selecting the right color since we can’t be in the stores to try it out?
Tarte’s website has a shade finder that is very helpful!
So curious how this compares to shape tape in weight, longevity, and coverage?
Not has heavy or full coverage as Shape Tape, but lasts just as well, in my experience. Shape Tape is too heavy for my under eyes, so I like this one much better for that!
