For those of you purists that wouldn’t even mention the fall season until the calendar struck September 23, welcome to the best season of the year! For the rest of us that have been pretending it’s fall since about August 25th, it feels good to finally be justified in our clothing, decor and food choices, right? While it’s been fall in my heart for the last month or so, I’ve yet to be able to really dress like it. We’ve got a 94º day happening here today, so you see what I mean. If you live in a climate, like me, that won’t reflect cooler temperatures for a bit longer, if ever, I thought it would be helpful to share some outfit ideas for wetting your palette for the fall season. The best part? Each outfit is created around a summer trend or staple, so you can recreate these outfits using pieces you may already have!
The Midi Skirt
Midi skirts were big this summer, and seem to still be in style for the fall. While you may have to get a little more creative with styling them for cooler weather, it can definitely be done! To keep it really simple, pair your midi skirt with a fitted long-sleeve tee, some pointed toe booties (to elongate the leg) and a crossbody with a fun pop of color or pattern. If you need a piece of outerwear, a moto jacket would pair perfectly with this outfit!

The Sweater Tank
A great piece for the transitional time is the sweater tank (or tanks) you have from the summer! I had a few that I wore regularly with shorts and sandals. To make it work for cooler weather, you can just pair the tank with your favorite jeans and some mules. If you need a top layer, try a field jacket or moto jacket to add a little color and shape.

The Simple Dress
Although my legs may not be quite as tan as they were a couple months ago, I’m still wearing dresses while I can! I love a simple dress paired with a longer cardigan and some mules or booties. If you have a cropped sweater, you could swap the cardigan for the pullover sweater to create a fun and cozy outfit for the season.

The Cutoff Shorts
If it’s really warm where you still are, keep those shorts nearby! Paired with a simple tee, a soft wrap, and booties, you can easily wear your shorts into the fall. If you want a long-sleeve option, you could easily pair the shorts with a chunky knit pullover sweater, too! I love the juxtaposition of shorts with a warm knit on top.

The Lace-Trim Cami
Another popular thing from the summer was the lace-trim cami. I have a few that I wore a lot over the last few months, so I definitely want to be able to continue wearing them. To bring them into the next season, I’ll pair with skinny jeans, a chunky cardigan, and some fun flats. You could also swap the cardigan for a moto jacket and the flats for booties for an evening out!

Just because we’re into the next season doesn’t mean you have to stop wearing some of your favorite things from summer. While I love to shop and add new things to my closet, I also try to be practical and resourceful with what I already own. Finding ways to wear these summer classics into fall is a great way to get another few wears out of them while dressing seasonally appropriate!
