I’ve always been a shopper. I genuinely enjoy strolling through a mall, browsing my favorite retailer’s online, taking advantage of a good sale…you name it! My style has definitely evolved over the years, as well as what I prioritize spending money on. As I’ve dialed in my personal style, especially over the last two years or so, I’ve come to learn which types of items I get the most use out of. For me, those items are worth spending a little more money on, if it means I get a higher quality product. (Certainly, there are times you can spend more money but not get a better product, you’re just paying for the brand name). The things that I spend more money on are things that I truly love and know that I’ll get a ton of use out of. When I break it down, the cost per use makes it all worth it in the end!
The things I’m sharing today are also things that I typically get a lot of questions about when they’re seen on Instagram or my blog! I thought it would be fun to do a little round-up of my most-used, “splurge” items that you see a lot of around here.
(I want to note that what I consider a “splurge” may differ a little or a whole lot from your concept of it. I realize it’s not feasible or desirable to everyone to spend over $100 on jeans and I totally respect that! On the other hand, $100 denim may be the starting point for you. Everyone has different priorities and ways of spending money, so just keep that in mind as you read through the items that I believe are worth spending my money on!)
1. Madewell Zip-Top Transport Carry-All
This crossbody was my first foray into Madewell bags and I haven’t looked back! I purchased three years ago and still use it regularly, usually in the fall and winter. It has held up really well and has gotten even better looking as I’ve broken it in. It can fit a surprising amount of stuff, too! I like in through the colder months because I can stash a scarf/gloves in it. I’ve also used it as a small carry-on bag when flying and am able to fit all my in-flight things in it.
2. Madewell 10″ High-Rise Skinny Jeans
I’ll spare you my usual “Madewell has the best jeans” spiel because you’ve heard it enough, but TRULY they’re awesome. This style, in particular, is a frontrunner as my favorite.
Did you know I have a whole blog post reviewing my favorite Madewell jeans?
3. Away Bigger Carry-On Suitcase
I do enough traveling with just a carry-on bag that I knew this suitcase would be well-used. I’ve had it for over two years now and it’s still like-new. It comfortably fits everything I need for a long weekend (which is usually when I pack a carry-on), has a lock to keep everything secure, and rolls like a dream. Worth noting: I’ve never checked it, so can’t speak to how it would hold up. It hasn’t gotten scuffed/marked up during travel, but I’ve always been able to wash off markings with soap and warm water.
4. Karen Walker Alternative Fit Helter Skelter Sunglasses
For sure, this is the most expensive pair of sunglasses I’ve ever owned. They’re also my favorite looking pair of sunglasses ever, as well as the most flattering for my face. They’re comfortable for all-day wear, go with any outfit (if you’re the kind of person that chooses sunglasses based on what you’re wearing), and have held up great. All I need to do now is cross my fingers I never misplace them because I will be very sad, hah!
5. Apple Watch, Series 3
I was hesitant to jump on the Apple Watch train, but am ultimately glad that I did! I love it for tracking workouts/activity, getting notifications, and still being reachable without my phone (I have a data plan). I wrote a post about how I like to use my watch here!
6. Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial
I’ve shared this mask several times before, but it seems fitting for this collection of items! It leaves my skin glowy, soft, and so fresh looking. A little goes a long way, so it will definitely last you!
7. Cuyana Leather Travel Case Set
I’ve had this set for close to two years now and love it! I use the larger case for makeup or toiletries while traveling. The smaller case is really versatile – I use it for electronics, like headphones and chargers, for small things like lip balm, wet wipes, and a snack, or for accessories that I’m packing in my suitcase. It’s also a great size to carry around in your tote bag, if you use one for everyday. P.S. It’s a great gift option!
8. Barefoot Dreams Robe
I got this robe about two years ago and it’s still my favorite! It’s soft and cozy, which is perfect for cold mornings and nights. While it’s definitely bulky and on the heavier side, I find that I don’t get too warm in it, unless I’m moving about a lot.
And here’s a look at all the items together:
Great post! Just FYI, the link for the Cuyana set is actually a link for the Apple Watch!
Thanks – fixed!
Hi Lauren! I have the white bigger carry-on from Away and have checked it (scary, right?) and w/ a magic eraser the smudges and dirt come right off!! π
Amazing!!
