I’ve shared this before, but it’s still true. I’m much more adventurous and willing to buy and try new things when it comes to clothes and personal style. I’m not quite so open when it comes to beauty and makeup products. I’m not a makeup expert (at all) and don’t enjoy doing research, like what’s the best product for dark circles or when should I start using an anti-aging product, etc. I tend to try a new thing every once in awhile and then, if I love it, I’ll use it for a long time. I’ve recently (in the last few months) added a few new products to my regular routine, so I thought I would share them with you!
BECCA Soft Light Blurring Powder
I bought this one on the recommendation of my sister (as many of my beauty purchases happen) and really like it! It’s a really lightweight, fine powder but works well. It actually does create a blurring effect on my skin, which means that my makeup looks smooth and you can’t see fine lines or pores as easily. I feel like my makeup stays looking good for longer, which is also a great perk!
To apply, I just use a fluffy brush with a tiny bit of product and dust all over my finished makeup. It’s the last step in my routine!
Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
My love for Drunk Elephant products has only deepened with each new product I try. I’ve been using the Vitamin C and Night Serum daily for quite a bit now, but just recently added in this hydrating serum for a little extra love for my skin. I apply it evening and night and have noticed a difference in the suppleness of my skin. My makeup applies and looks better and my skin appears brighter and more alive.
BECCA Under Eye Brightening Corrector
First, I’ve never used an under eye corrector, so I have nothing to compare this product to. However, I’m impressed with how much of a different just a little dab of it can make. It’s quite sticky and can be thick, so a little goes a very long way. On my no makeup days (2-3/week), I like to apply just a touch of this corrector under my eyes to brighten up and make me look a bit more awake. I blend it in with my fingertip. Personally, I don’t use this when I’m wearing under eye concealer because my concealer does a good job of brightening on its own.
If you struggle with dark under eyes or want something for those no makeup or minimal makeup days to brighten up that area, you should try it!
NARS Velvet Matte Lipstick in Sex Machine
I used to wear these lipsticks in a couple different colors and then sort of forgot that they existed. On a recent trip to Ulta with my sister, she mentioned that this color was the one she wore on my wedding day and that it may look good on me. I tried it on in store and loved it! The color is a bit of a bolder option for me, but what I love most about it is how comfortable it is to wear. It’s long-lasting and truly a comfort matte. Plus, I love that it applies like a pencil.
Amika The Shield Anti-Humidity Spray
We’re on the cusp of summer-like weather in Northern Virginia, which means humidity is about to be in full force for about 4 months. This anti-humidity spray actually works and I don’t know how I styled my hair without it before. Actually, I do. I just wore it in a low messy bun the entire summer! If it’s going to be a particularly hot and humid day and I want my curls/styling to last, I’ll spray it on as I’m curling (section by section). But for regular days, I just spray a good coating over it after I’ve curled it and let it set in before doing anything else to my hair.
