While I always want my makeup to look natural, fresh, and glowy, that’s especially true throughout the spring and summer. I tend to wear less makeup, in general, so what I do put on, needs to be good! I prefer softer eyeshadow looks, brighter pink tones for blush, and usually skip eyeliner altogether. While I didn’t necessarily need any new makeup, I’m always browsing what’s out there and trying new things!
I hopped over to Walmart’s beauty department on their website and picked out a few items to work into my summer rotation. I started browsing and was very pleasantly surprised to see so many options. From drugstore brands that I love to higher-end brands that you can find in department stores, makeup products to skincare and sun protection, Walmart has you covered. What I liked most while clicking through the items was seeing that my specific beauty needs/wants could be met with their product offering. My regular makeup routine may be a little unique in that it contains drugstore and non-drugstore products – I usually have to shop at multiple websites or stores to get everything that I like. Now I know that I can pop over to Walmart’s site first and be able to find that great mix of products that I love to use!
Since online browsing often ends with me buying something, I thought I’d share a few of the products that I recently added into my makeup routine from Walmart! First things first, I restocked on my favorite mascara! Then, I picked up a really pretty highlighter, a neutral eyeshadow palette, and an eye and cheek palette that’s great for summer travel.
Maybelline Facestudio Master Chrome Metallic Highlighter in Molten Gold
When I say that this is a stunning highlighter, I mean stu-nning. I had high hopes, based on the reviews, and have been so pleasantly surprised to have those hopes exceeded. It’s highly pigmented, so a little goes a long way, and adds a beautiful, natural-looking glow to my face. Since I tend to have slightly more tanned skin in the summer and wear more bronzer on my face, I like that it’s gold because it adds to the overall palette that I’m usually working in. I just use a small, fluffy brush to apply the highlight along the tops of my cheekbones and down the center of my nose.
It’s one of those products that actually stays in place all day, too! I put it on in the morning with my makeup and still have a pretty glow by nighttime.
Stila Perfect Me Perfect Hue Eye & Cheek Palette, Fair/Light
I’ve come to really gravitate towards palettes like these. A few things I love about them: 1. They take the guesswork out of which colors to pair together, 2. They’re great for travel, 3. They may offer more options than you already have! It has everything you need for a pretty summer eye makeup look, plus two blushes to choose from. I’ve been using the lighter eyeshadows and mixing the two blushes together to create a pretty, bubblegum pink.
NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette, Warm Neutrals
I’m a more recent convert to NYX shadows, but they’re great and very budget-friendly! In my experience, they wear well and come in a lot of color options, so just about anyone will be able to find the right colors for their complexion and preferences. At under $20, this palette is a steal for all the colors you get! I’ve been using some of the lighter shades for my eyeshadow the last few weeks and love how it looks.
For reference: I use the first shade all over my lid and up towards my eyebrow, the third shade all over the lid (concentrated in the middle and crease), and the fifth shade towards the outer corner and crease. Then I’ll usually go in with the second shade to add a little brightness to the inner corner.

Oh my gosh. You totally got me on that Stila palette. It looks beautiful, and I can’t wait to travel with it.
It’s even more pretty in person! Definitely a great option for travel.
