My Skincare Routine

It’s been a long time coming, but I’m finally sharing my full skincare routine with you! I’ve been using some of these products for years, others for 6+ months, and some are newer to me. I have normal-oily skin. I rarely have issues with dryness, except in the dead of winter. With this skincare routine, I only get breakouts hormonally, which is a new development for me! I used to regularly have a blemish or two, usually around my mouth or on my chin.

A few things to note: I never sleep with makeup on. Ever. I go makeup free at least 1-2 days a week, and then light makeup (aka no liquid foundation, just a little concealer and powder) 1-3 days a week, and will do full makeup 1-3 days a week. It really just depends on what’s going on that week and what I feel like my skin needs. My cleansing is done when I remove my makeup. I rarely cleanse my skin in the morning; I’ll just splash some water on it before using my morning products. These products work well for me and my skin, but they may not work for you. I recommend doing some research into the products and reading reviews to see if they may work for you!

Every day, whether I’m wearing makeup or not, I’ll use two products in the morning. I do one pump of Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum with about a half-pump (a drop or two) of Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi Anti-Pollution Sunshine Drops. I love the Day Serum – it brightens my skin, evens out my skin tone, and moisturizes. The D-Bronzi adds a really pretty glow, which I especially love on makeup-free days. I pump the two of them onto my fingertips and then gently rub all over my skin and down onto my neck. If I’m wearing makeup, I’ll just go right into my makeup routine, starting with my primer. I don’t use any other moisturizer.

When it’s time to take off my makeup and do my evening routine, I’ve been using Colleen Rothschild Cleansing Balm to melt away my makeup. I just scoop a bit out onto my fingertips, work it together in my hands to loosen and warm it up and then massage into my skin for a couple minutes, working all that makeup out of my pores and off my skin. I rinse with warm water and make sure everything is off. Then, I take one pump of the Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Night Serum and rub all over my face and neck. I follow it with dabbing some of the Colleen Rothschild Complete Eye Cream under and around my eyes. (I also really love Kiehl’s Midnight Recovery Botanical Cleansing Oil for removing makeup/cleansing.)

About once a week, I’ll treat my skin to a mask. Depending on what I feel like my skin is needing, I’ll either use Origins Charcoal Mask or Drunk Elephant Babyfacial. I love the Origins Charcoal Mask when my skin is particularly oily, I’ve been breaking out, or I feel like my skin needs a deep clean. I spread the mask all over my face and let it sit for 10 minutes or so, then gently massage it off my skin with warm water. This is one of the few masks that I feel like actually prevents further breakouts and re-balances my skin. If my skin is looking dull, feels uneven to the touch or I’m not having a breakout that warrants the charcoal, I use the Babyfacial. This is truly like an at-home facial treatment. I just use one pump and spread it around my mouth and on my chin, along my nose and on my forehead and let it do its thing for about 20 minutes. I can feel it start working right away, which I love! After 20 minutes, I’ll rinse it off with warm water. My skin instantly looks brighter and more alive, feels smoother, and my makeup goes on so well for the next few days.

Omg girl. Pleaseeee get a moisturizer! The DE serums are not at all hydrating and are meant to be followed with moisturizer, trust me I use both and I also have oily skin! Oily skin still needs hydration!

I agree that you need a moisturizer, especially one with SPF. I am using CeraVe Day lotion, a surprisingly good drugstore lotion recommended by my dermatologist. It has both SPF and retinol in it, not at all heavy feeling.
